Our Baby Registry

To all our friends and family:

As we get nearer to June, Dean and I have been discussing what we need for our baby. As with most aspects of our lives, we would like to care for our child in a ‘green’ a way as possible. Some of our desired items are not in the mainstream, which has made creating a document with a list of the things we may need was the best option. Of course, this is not a request for people to buy us things. Rather it is a resource for anyone, including ourselves, who is interested in being involved.

We have tried to be as thorough as possible in indicating where each item on our list can be acquired. This does not mean it is the only place. In fact, we encourage those who are interested to check thrift stores, yard sales and ebay. Craigslist is also an excellent resource.

If you have an item that you intend to buy, go ahead and leave a comment stating the item’s name using the Name “Registry”. If you’re not too hot on computers, go ahead and let either grandmother (Gail or Terri) know.

The Registry

Diapers

In our research we have found that a baby goes through about 7 diapers per day. We have chosen to use cloth diapers, and would like approximately 3 days worth, or 21 diapers per size. We would also like 6 diaper covers per size. So in list form:

  • 21 19 infant diapers (we have two AIOs)
  • 6 infant covers
  • 21 16 medium diapers (5 prefolds were gifted to us from Lucia Garcia-Delphinus)
  • 6 medium covers
  • 21 large diapers
  • 6 large covers

All-In-One (AIO) diapers, are available at Walmart.com, ebay.com, amazon.com as well as many other websites. We like to support Work At Home Moms (WAHMs) wherever possible, as they often make the best diapers. Prefolds (the type your mother used) are available at Target, Walmart, Babies-R-Us as well as thousands of online stores (ebay.com and amazon.com included). We love reusing, so don’t be afraid to buy used cloth diapers. We will, of course, wash them thoroughly before use. Also, please make sure that Prefolds are 100% cotton, organic and unbleached wherever possible. It’s especially important that prefolds do not have polyester inners, as they are not as absorbent as plain cotton. Organic fabrics are appreciated wherever possible, especially on anything that’s going to be touching baby’s skin.

Nursing Items

  • Boppy Nursing Pillow – available at Target
  • Boppy pillow covers – available at Target
  • Nursing Top/Nightgown – available almost anywhere
  • Breast Pump – available at Target, Babies-R-Us, Walmart, etc. (we would be totally okay with a second hand pump with new tubing.)

Big Items – These would be great group gifts

  • Baby trend Jogger Travel System – available at Target, Walmart, amazon.com and ebay.com
  • Exta carseat dock – available at the same places

Other Miscellany

  • Supreme Snuggle Nest – available at Toy-R-Us, amazon.com and ebay.com
  • California Baby or other all natural baby bath products – available at Target, ebay.com, amazon.com. Here’s a little sheet that gives you the guidelines of what to avoid for babies:

  • An umbrella stroller – again, we love hand-me-downs!
