34 weeks pregnant…a test

34 weeks

We’ll know relatively soon if dad is watching or not, since I’m in my underwear once again. *gasp*!

From this point forward, there’s not a lot of development going on. Everything is done, you know? So our little baby is just hanging out in my womb getting bigger and bigger. My uterus has actually eclipsed my rib cage, and it’s gotten a bit uncomfortable to breathe, sit, or walk.

Also the baby has been snuggling his or her little head into my pelvis, which feels incredibly strange and makes me have to pee ridiculously badly.

I’m feeling a bit less crazy as all the pieces of the baby puzzle fall into place. We rearranged our room, put our winter clothes away, got all the baby clothes washed and put away…Basically doing all the small stuff that needs to happen before the baby arrives.

28 weeks…97 days remain, and where is my camera cord?

So. This morning I realized that we had passed the 100 days remaining mark. Wow. In less than 100 days, Dean and I will be holding our brand new tiny baby in our arms. That’s so hard to imagine. I gave Dean a big hug this morning and just enjoyed that moment of us being the only ones in the universe. It’s going to be so different with a child. I just can’t wait to meet this little person, to get to know them. I hope he or she is just as excited to meet Mommy and Daddy.

Right now the baby’s brain is starting to get bumpy, as it has been smooth up until this point. That means that its brain is developing more and more every day. The baby’s eyes are open, and s/he can see experience light and dark as well as sensation.

We did take a picture, but I can’t find the USB cord for my camera, so they’ll be posted in good time…

I saw some old friends yesterday and the day before, which was really nice. I can’t believe how long it’s been. Actually, it’s since I told them I was pregnant, which was FOR EVER ago. It was really nice to have them in our home, especially since some of them had never been there before.

I spent a good deal of time getting ready for them, and then cleaning up afterwards this weekend, and I actually slept for about 13 hours of yesterday. My energy level has been way down, but I’ve been getting a lot more done, so perhaps it’s a trade off.

26 weeks pregnant, lists, and the plumber

Well, for the first time in a month, our little one is opening his or her eyes! The baby’s eyelids have been fused shut, but now s/he is blinking those beautiful baby blues all over the place. And yes, they are blue at this moment, but they’ll continue to change and develop their color until a few months after the baby is born.

I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

The baby has been lodging itself under my ribs on the right side, which has gotten mildly uncomfortable, and sleeping has gotten much more uncomfortable. I think I’m just going to start sleeping sitting up, since it won’t kill my hips.

This week there is a 70% chance of the baby surviving if it were born, which means that Jenny has to start calling it a baby, and not a fetus. 😛

We had a nice visit with Brooke and Joe yesterday. They have acquired much more baby stuff since last time we were there, and it got me thinking about what stuff I’m really going to need. Ack. I’ve put together a list for myself, and I’m going to start checking it off a little bit at a time. I LOVE lists. It’s the only way that I function, unfortunately.

I’ve also been thinking a lot about my birth, and wishing there was something that I could use to organize it. But, of course, it hasn’t happened yet, and when it does, I’ll be in labor, and hopefully not worrying too much about organizing. I watched several Ina Mae Gaskin videos on youtube, and it has me thinking about who’s going to be at my birth. She talks about how laughing is really good for labor. Who will come to make me laugh? Who will I feel implicitly comfortable with? These are such hard questions for me. I mean, nudity isn’t a big deal to me. I’ll be naked in front of practically anyone, but being comfortable with someone’s presence so that I can do what I need to do and not worry about them…? I suppose we shall see.

Also the plumber is coming tomorrow to save us from our hot water-less existence. If all goes well, I’ll be washing clothes and showering by tomorrow night, and then flushing my toilet and washing dishes by Friday. Sounds good to me, brother!

So, here’s me (note my strange posture…which is totally natural to me now.):

18 weeks

And just for fun…Dean and I are having a contest. He’s going to have to loose as much weight as I gain… So here is he and I at 4 and a half months pregnant:
